Metal Detection Units For Strawberry Farm

Berry Sweet is the largest privately-owned berry producer in Australia. Working across three locations, they produce strawberries, raspberries and blueberries for all major supermarkets. Berry Sweet and BON have been working together since both businesses commenced.

The Challenge

When the strawberry tampering crisis occurred in 2018, Berry Sweet wanted to act swiftly, ensuring they could guarantee the safety of their product when it left their farms heading for the supermarket.

Our Solution

Working with our partners, A&D Weighing Equipment, BON installed metal detection units to their packing facility.

The units supplied by A&D are capable of detecting foreign metals within .2mm in size.

The detection system was integrated with the existing packing line and in consideration of the production process, ensuring it was the last safety check completed before shipment.

The strawberry crisis of 2018 took a considerable financial toll on growers nationwide as consumers bypassed products over safety concerns.

Berry Sweet demonstrated commendable corporate maturity throughout the crisis, ensuring the safety of their products for their clients.
