Fully Automated Horticultural Climate & Precision Fertigation System

BON Electrics completed a fully automated horticultural climate and precision fertigation system to 18 tunnels for the production of tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and capsicums in Gingin.

• Installations included 18 Electrical Panels, fertigation systems, fertigation Tanks & Stirrers, Circulation Fans, High Pressure Fog systems.
• Site works included power to irrigation pumps, tank mixing, and tank stirrers.
• Installation of control cabling for dam water level measurements for automated staged bore filling with low level cut outs, and control cabling for reverse osmosis water systems, and Installation of control cabling for Environment control.

The project has set the bar in the hort industry.

The technical aspects for this project were the electrical, control and water required for delivery of precision irrigation and climate control.

BON had to set fertigation injection into the water supply to deliver nutrient recipes into plant stock whilst ensuring plant stock remained healthy. We had to create climate control to 18 individual zones that included air movement and high-pressure fogging – to provide the ultimate ‘atmosphere’ for the plants to grow.

The Key product used was PRIVA – smart horticultural software platform, which is an all-encompassing control to provide optimal production, maximize yield, improve quality and reduce the cost of resources like water, energy and labour. This allows the client total control via both web and app interface which allows them access from anywhere around the world. The Priva system allows us to give the client the ability to change between fertilizer recipes by changing a control setting on the water system – which delivers different fertiliser mix based on plant requirements OR multi cropping requirements together with control of temperature and climate.
